Important national and international awards are recognizing the quality of wines bearing the Varvaglione 1921 label. As is well known, behind every label lies the commitment, dedication, and constant growth of the Taranto winery run by the Varvaglione family.
Primitivo di Manduria Collezione Privata Cosimo Varvaglione 2019 Hits the Jackpot. The wine, named after the winery owner and always recognized for its quality and Apulian typicality, has received the Wine Hunter Award 2022 Gold, Bibenda's 5 Grappoli, Gambero Rosso's Tre Bicchieri, and an impressive 91/100 points from James Suckling.
From the same collection and vintage, the Negroamaro Salento Collezione Privata 2019, along with Papale Oro 2019, have for the second consecutive year received The Wine Hunter Award Rosso. This recognition, coupled with the Gold for the Primitivo, will grant access to the 31st edition of the Merano Wine Festival.
Great success also for the winery's new entry: the Susumaniello 2021 wins the Gold Medal at the Berliner Wine Trophy.
From overseas, James Suckling's accolades recognize two more labels from the Family Collection: Primadonna Chardonnay di Puglia and Tatu Primitivo Salento, with 91 and 90 points out of 100 respectively. The first is a barrel-aged white; the second, an intense red from Puglia's quintessential indigenous grape, Primitivo.
To conclude, Salice Salentino won the Grand Gold medal at Mundus Vini and once again secured the "Best of Show 2022" award, thus being recognized as the best wine in its category.
A long list of awards is the result of the hard work of the winery and the Varvaglione family, constantly pursuing quality, with an eye on sustainable production methods, from the vineyard to the bottle.
