In this historic company located in Leporano, in the province of Taranto, within the territory known as Salento, experience and tradition have over time found full synergy through the use of the most advanced winemaking technology and a great focus on market needs.
Over time, the technologies used for wine production have harmoniously blended with the ancient winemaking traditions of the Salento region. Varvaglione 1921 is a constantly evolving winery, which in the past opened to the public with the sale of bulk wine.
1958
Angelo Varvaglione, son of Cosimo, built the first cellar in Leporano, which today serves as the sales point.
The focus of the Taranto-based winery is on local grape varieties such as Primitivo, Negroamaro, Susumaniello, Malvasia, and Aglianico for red wines, and Verdeca, Falanghina, Malvasia, and Fiano for white wines. Additionally, when it comes to international grape varieties, the winery produces wines from Chardonnay, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon, while respecting the unique characteristics of the Salento region.
