Cosimo Varvaglione awarded Entrepreneur of the Year: Apulian Excellence 2020
Taranto, February 1, 2020: Cosimo Varvaglione, a native of Taranto and owner and winemaker of the winery Varvaglione1921, was among the "Apulian Excellence 2020".
Some of the most representative Apulian excellences outside the region were awarded in Rome at the headquarters of the Chamber of Deputies, as part of the media-cultural initiative for territorial marketing promoted by Oll Muvi, the association conceived and founded by Roberto Pansini, in collaboration with CIM, the Confederation of Italians in the World, and the association “Puglia Top of Quality”.
A well-attended event that featured, among others, the presence of Hon. Nissoli Fucsia Fitzgerald, a member of Parliament elected in the Overseas Constituency – North and Central America Division. “The award given to Cosimo Varvaglione is an exclusive recognition,” the organizers explained, “granted to those who have distinguished themselves nationally and internationally for their work.” The recipients were Apulians from various sectors — from entrepreneurship to social initiatives, from tourism to culinary arts — who, according to Oll Muvi, have stood out globally, carrying with their work a mark of Apulian identity around the world.
Proud yet filled with a sense of responsibility was the comment by Cosimo Varvaglione, who in Rome, in a particularly crowded hall, could not help but recall the years when his professional journey began—leading up to the position he holds today, on the eve of the centenary celebration of the family business, which places Varvaglione among the very few century-old, family-run companies. “In the 1970s, when I started working alongside my father, Italy already felt too small for me. Today, with my company, we are present in many countries around the world, and it’s a beautiful thing to carry, through our name, all the beauty of Apulia. A beauty that importers rediscover every time they visit our facilities, following the path of the Primitivo di Manduria.”
