At this time of year, we like to remember and recount the harvest in Puglia with a romantic vision. The sweet smell of must filling the streets and the family gathering during the harvest. The “team” of women arranged in the vineyard and the men ready to grab the special containers made of olive branches when they heard the cry “Carricamu!” : Very simple food, bread and cheese, eaten in the shade of an olive tree.

At the end of the day, the harvesters would retire and rest their backs after a day of hard labor. Truly hard, because é the Puglian vineyard is cultivated in a low “bush vine” style, meaning that the harvesting work had to be done constantly with bent backs. Today, much of this can still be experienced here in Puglia at Varvaglione during the harvest, with a single goal: to carry forward a company production focused on quality.
For this reason, the company has embraced new technologies in viticulture, always keeping an eye on the future while respecting a tradition that has its roots in 1921.
Alongside these technologies, a significant commitment to environmental sustainability has been undertaken, starting with energy savings, water resource management, the use of cotton paper for labels, and the conversion of part of the vineyards to organic farming.
All of this makes the Varvaglione Family today competitive and capable of offering the market high-quality wines from Puglia.
