The Varvaglione Malvasia Bianca crushed the other 24 Italian wineries.

On the wine lists of all the ships in the MSC Cruises fleet, 12eMezzo, the Malvasia Bianca produced by Varvaglione1921, will take its rightful place. This choice was made and confirmed by the preferences of the guests, who were asked to choose among many labels during a week-long vacation featuring cultural visits exploring the beauties of European capitals and wine tastings offered by companies selected by Gambero Rosso International.

In the waters of the Mediterranean, aboard one of the flagship ships symbolizing Italian identity, during the second edition of Wine & Sea, the contest also promoted this year by Gambero Rosso International, it was Varvaglione1921’s Malvasia Bianca that won the audience’s first prize.

More than 6,000 guests aboard the magnificent MSC ship, accustomed to sailing the Mediterranean waters, tasted the wines presented and selected by Gambero Rosso. The majority of the audience made a clear and decisive choice. And the Malvasia Bianca, the 12eMezzo from Varvaglione, won over both taste and palate.

The Taranto-based company, during the three tastings offered to passengers, outpaced no less than 24 other wineries from across the country, with particular reference to the wine regions of Campania, Sicily, Lazio, Veneto, Piedmont, Abruzzo, and of course Apulia.

Also excellent was the positioning of the family’s prestigious label, the Papale Oro, which claimed third place among the best red wines.

A great result for the Varvaglione team on board the ship returning to Apulia, with an important recognition for the symbolic significance of a competition where a Taranto wine claimed the podium, confirming the excellent quality work done both in the vineyard and in the winery.
