The primacy of Primitivo, and for ‘Idea’ come the Tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso

The Tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso arrive in Taranto and crown Idea, the Rosa di Primitivo by Varvaglione1921, among the best Italian wines.

Just a few months after the launch of the new wine, born from the intuition of Marzia Varvaglione and the oenological work of her father Mimmo, comes the most important recognition from Gambero Rosso, the only Italian guide recognized worldwide.

“Obviously, when we imagined Idea, from winemaking to packaging, we had a good intuition,” says Marzia. The rosé made from Primitivo grapes of Salento is a modern and appealing expression of Primitivo, proving to be an eclectic and dynamic grape variety capable of delivering great results even in the rosé version.

“This wine is a pure story that speaks of Taranto, Puglia, Southern Italy, and all the Souths of the world,” continues Marzia Varvaglione, “where the sea-sun-wind axis, essential elements to give a wine recognizable organoleptic characteristics, is the connecting factor beyond territorial and cultural barriers. We also worked a lot on the visual perception so that the image illustrated on the label, at first glance, geolocates the passionate winelover in a comfortable environment that tastes like relaxation, pure pleasure, freshness, and happiness.”

Idea is a rosé that smells of red fruits and watermelon, enriched by a lovely balsamic note of wild mint, with a full and fresh sip, and a pleasant salty finish.

Idea is an all-around wine. Great for an aperitif, also perfect with more complex dishes since the grapes it comes from have the strength and structure of Primitivo del Salento, which makes this rosé fresh and pleasant—an excellent pairing even with meat-based dishes.
